Sergei Rachmaninov (also spelled Rachmaninoff)
" The last of the great Romantics"
1873-1943
Born in Novgorod, Russia
By the age of 19 he had written his First Piano Concerto and a one-act opera.
Made his first visit to America in 1909.
He was a great pianist and conductor.
The last years of his life were spent living in Los Angeles. In 1943 his life was taken by cancer.
